Meet The Artist | Devon Reiffer
If one can feel, one can change. This belief is the foundation of my practice — a visual journey into emotion, identity, and empathy. I create art as a form of advocacy — a space where visibility becomes action, and emotion becomes change. As a genderfluid, LGBTQIA+ artist, my work is rooted in the belief that we are all born inherently good, with a shared human desire: to be loved unconditionally. Yet through societal conditioning and binary systems, we are taught to suppress, divide, and doubt who we truly are. Using layers of charcoal and gesso, I build textured, grayscale compositions that reflect the complexity of lived experience. The gray tones reject the limitations of black-and-white thinking — instead, they represent the expansive spectrum of gender, race, identity, and emotion. My art lives in the in-between: where difference becomes common ground and visibility becomes healing. Each piece I create is both personal and political. My work bridges queer history, lived experience, and cultural memory. It serves as a visual reminder that despite our differences, we are deeply connected — and that in being different, we often find we are more alike than we imagined. Every person wants to be acknowledged. To be accepted. To be loved. Each story matters. Through my art, I strive to make those stories visible. I aim to hold emotional space — especially for those who have been pushed to the margins — and to remind anyone struggling with their identity: you are not alone, and you have always been enough. Collectors of my work aren’t just investing in an aesthetic — they’re becoming part of a movement toward empathy, inclusion, and deeper truth. My mission is to create art that opens hearts, challenges perception, and brings us back to our shared humanity. If one can feel, one can change. This is what art is meant to do. And it’s what my work is here to help create. Join my #bethechange mission by following: @ DEVONREIFFER FB | IG | Twitter | LinkedIn |
